COMMUNITY PHARMACY - COMPOUNDING OF INDIVIDUAL DRUGS

Extemporaneous compounding of drugs in a pharmacy lab.

The Bulgarian Scientific Pharmaceutical Laboratory (BSPL) is the biggest facility in the country for compounding of medicines on doctor’s prescription (ex-tempore). The team of BSPL consists of young pharmacists and pharmaceutical technicians with a lot of knowledge on the pharmaceutical compounding, as well as students in pharmacy from all of the faculties of pharmacy in Bulgaria, but also students from abroad.

During your training program you will be entitled to observe, but also to actively participate in the process of developing a compounded drug.

For the moment we do compound more than eight hundred (800) different compounded medications for the use in neurology, nephrology, urology, cardiology, paediatrics, ophthalmology, gynaecology, dermatology, psychiatry, microbiology, surgery and many others.

Length of training periods

The exchange will take place in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Period can be between two (2) and six (6) weeks.

Type accommodation

A RESIDENTS' FLAT

The accommodation offered by the host is a fully-equipped double-roomed flat (apartment) with a maximum capacity of four (4) residents. A kitchen with an oven, plates and cutlery is installed in one of the rooms. One bathroom with a shower cabin is available for all of the residents in the apartment. Single beds are fully- equipped, so there is no need to bring any bedsheets and towels also. There is a washing machine for your laundry. Two balconies (a small and a big) are at your disposal for the summer evenings.

DISTANCE FROM TRAINIG FACILITY & CITY

The apartment is just at a 15 metres distance from the pharmacy lab and is five (5) minutes walk away from the Central Bus Station and Central Railway Station. Sofia Airport is easily reachable by metro for not more than one (1) hour trip. Walking to the top city centre of Sofia will take you not more than 25 minutes on foot.

ACCOMODATION PAYMENTS

Upon arrival, the guests will be charged a fee of twelve (12) EUR per day along with a deposit of fifty (50) EUR.

ENJOY REST

The accommodation is a part of a calm-living area, so no parties are allowed in it.

Board, pocket money or other financial benefits/remuneration

FREE CITY TRAVEL CARD

Payment is not considered, but we will provide you free of charge travel cards for the whole city, for the period.

Language requirements

The students should be able to have proper skills in English. The knowledge of any other language is a plus, but not required. We kindly appreciate it if a candidate with a language different from English will contact us in advance (Serbian,Croatian, Macedonian,Slovenian, Russian).

STUDENTS

SEP applicants may be in their first (1) until the last year of pharmaceutical studies.

POST GRADUATE & PhD STUDENTS

It is also possible for graduate students to participate in the program.

Information on Work Permits and Visa

EU CITIZENS

Citizens of EU member countries do not need a visa to enter Bulgaria.

NON EU CITIZENS

Citizens of non-EU countries may be required to apply for a visa. In this case BPhSA will send you an invitation.

Should be assured by the candidate himself before arrival;

The specific type of visa that will be needed for the SEP program is Visa type C

The application form should be submitted not earlier than 3 months before the date of the planned trip in person or through an authorised representative, with the exception of cases for humanitarian reasons.

PROCEDURE

The host is responsible for selecting the applicants while the SEO collects and forwards their applications to the host for final confirmation.

DEADLINE

The SEP program Bulgaria has no deadline.
