Area possibilities
We are providing two area of possibilities in our exchange period which include:
- Hospital (Universitas Airlangga Hospital)
- Research (Institute of Tropical Disease, Universitas Airlangga)
Exchanger will have an experience on working per one shift while being
guided in a community and hospital pharmacy setting or having a training as a research intern. The activity on hospital and clinical pharmacy include:
- Compounding.
- Dispensing.
- Inventory management.
- and more!
The activity on Research: On Research, we will visit Institute of Tropical Diseases where exchanger are able to take a look on how research been done there. More details will be informed so stay tuned!
Note: Hospital & Community Pharmacy are combined into one set of training. Therefore, the option of exchanger on enrolling to our SEP are either joining Hospital Pharmacy OR Research
Length of training periods
You are going to spend 4 Weeks in Surabaya, the activity that we provide are:
🥼 Internship according to your placed fields (hospital pharmacy and internship) which will be done for 5 working days in through 3 weeks.
🏫 Visit to Universitas Airlangga, Institute of Tropical Disease, and cultural learning.
🏭 Visit to Industries in East Java
🗻 Trips in Surabaya & Trip to Mount Bromo
🎉 Free time for exchanger to explore The City of Surabaya.

Exchange will be done in East Surabaya where Full month is Required.
The period of Exchange are: 27 July - 24 August 2025.
Internship in Hospital Pharmacy and will be provided in Partnering Institution of Universitas Airlangga (Universitas Airlangga Hospital)
Type accommodation
Currently, there are two possible accommodation that we are able to provide you:
- Student Dormitory
- Apartment / Homestay
We are trying to negotiate the possibilities of accommodation that we are able to provide. More details will be updated by SEO in this listing.
Board, pocket money or other financial benefits/remuneration
Unfortunately, there are no financial benefit or remuneration provided by our
host association.
However, Upon your arrival in Surabaya, LEO will pick you up for free and guide you upon the City of Heroes, Surabaya! Beside pick up, we are able to provide you a partially subsidized students dormitory. We are also preparing a special gift for you which was specially handpicked by LEO of BEM FF UNAIR which will serve as a memento for your time with us.
Exchanger are obligated to pay in order to fulfil some of these needs:
- Daily needs (Foods and Transport) (Around 6 EUR / day)
- Major Trips (Around 50 EUR)
- Trips in Surabaya (Around 2 EUR)
- SIM card (Around 38 EUR)
- Accommodation (Around 150 EUR)
Even though fulfilling those needs are one of the responsibilities for exchanger, Local Exchange Officer will give guidance and recommendation to help incoming student fulfil their daily needs according to their budget.

a. Trips
🗻Bromo Trip (Major Trips)
The Bromo Trip is a two-day, one-night event included in the SEP FF UNAIR 2025 program, aimed at showcasing the natural beauty and wealth of Indonesia, particularly in East Java. Community development activities related to pharmacy will also take place in the local village. This event provides exchangers with an opportunity to learn about Indonesia’s local wisdom related to pharmacy and apply it in various fields.
🦈🐊Trip to Surabaya
The Surabaya Trip is a planned series of activities for SEP 2025, which aims to familiarize exchangers with the history and culture of Indonesia, particularly those found in Surabaya. This trip includes visits to three locations :
- Kebun Raya Mangrove
An environmental initiative where participants engage in mangrove planting, helping restore coastal ecosystems. The activity includes exploring Kebun Raya Mangrove and learning about biodiversity and conservation efforts.
- Kampung Lawas Maspati.
The visit to Kampung Lawas Maspati provides opportunities for exchangers to experience Surabaya culture through interactions with local residents, visits to ancestral sites, playing traditional games, and sampling traditional food and drinks.
- Cak Durasim
Finally, the visit to Taman Budaya Cak Durasim aims to promote an understanding of the culture of East Java through Ludruk performance.
- Museum 10 November
A visit to Museum 10 November, a historical landmark dedicated to the Battle of Surabaya and Indonesia’s struggle for independence. Participants explored artifacts, dioramas, and narratives that highlight the bravery of national heroes.
Beside those 4 Major places, we are also planning to visit other places that are very notable in Surabaya which you can request to us in your leisure time. Example include:
- Malls in Surabaya (Tunjungan Plaza, Pakuwon Trade Center, Galaxy Mall, Pasar Atom, Delta Plaza and the list goes on)
- Local Street Food Center (Kya-kya (China Town), Kodam, Karang Menjangan, and more)
- Land Marks (Kapal Selam Monument, Surabaya Monument, Old Town, Surabaya Town Square, and more!)
If there are place that you wish to visit in Surabaya which are not in that list, feel free to talk to our Local Exchange Officer who might arrange a plan to visit the spot that you requested!
🏭Industrial Visit
We are going planning to visit PT. Amerta Indah Otsuka (Otsuka) and PT. Bernofarm. Here, we will take a look at the process of production that are related to pharmaceutical dosage forms and nutraceuticals.

💃A Visit to FIB
FIB, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya or Faculty of Humanities is a Faculty located in Campus B of Universitas Airlangga. Come get your first-row seats to watch traditional dances and get ready to dress up in Indonesia’s traditional clothing.
🌿Get to Know Indonesia's Traditional Medicine
Get to Know About Indonesian Traditional Medicine is aimed at introducing exchangers to Indonesia’s traditional remedies. This includes aromatherapy (solid perfume and candles), jamu (kunyit asam, beras kencur, and bedak dingin). The focus is on herbal ingredients, processing methods, unique characteristics, and health benefits. The exchangers will be invited to practice what they have learned in a workshop including :
- Selecting the herbal plants used to make Jamu
- Producing Jamu Independently
- Tasting the Jamu they have made
The entire series of activities will be supervised and guided by experts. After that, you can take your own handmade products to your respective homes!
👋🎙️Talkshow and Farewell Party
A special event marking the conclusion of the program, featuring a talk show and a farewell celebration. Both committees and exchangers will have the chance to showcase their talents through various performances, creating a vibrant and interactive atmosphere. This event serves as a final bonding moment, celebrating friendships, cultural exchange, and unforgettable experiences. Here are some events you look forward to in the Farewell Party:
- Opening Recall Memory
This is a sharing activity where several representatives from the exchangers and the LEO committee will share their experiences during the SEP 2025 program to remember the activities that have been done.
- Games
Don’t let the farewell sadness get enough off of you and keep up the SEP Spirit with a hint of competitiveness.
- Special Performance
This is an event showcasing various interesting performance activities performed by the committee and exchangers to liven up the event.

Language requirements
English, But learning basic Indonesian will be appreciated. For the whole exchange period in Surabaya, we will guide you using English while also teaching you the basic Indonesian and Local Language of Surabaya which is Javanese! You might get basic fluency of Indonesian in your period here.

- Minimum year of study: 3 rd semester / 2nd year student
- We are accepting graduated students.

Requirements of Visa
- Passport which is available for at least 6 months
- Return or Connecting ticket to other Countries.

BEM FF UNAIR will help you on obtaining VISA in two ways
- Invitation letters that will be provided by SEO
- Office of International Affairs (Airlangga Global Engagement) Direct guidance
Selection Procedures
- Document selection through Application Forms, prioritize the first applying students.
- No Deadline for Applying, However, we prefer to get application 1-2 months before exchange period. We will still process the application received 1 months before exchange period.
- Choice by SEO.
