Community pharmacy placements are available around Australia. We will strive to accommodate the student’s preference. Students can be guaranteed a great experience in any Australian metropolitan or rural area.
Type accommodation
We will try our best to host students in family homes belonging to pharmacy students (this might incur a small cost to help them provide you with food and other living expenses). Alternatively, if we can't secure accommodation at a host family, we will help you find a hotel or Airbnb at a cheaper level to meet your needs.
Board, pocket money or other financial benefits/remuneration
Positions for placement are unpaid and no spending money is provided. Australia can appear very expensive compared to some other countries and students should be prepared for this. They will be expected to bring spending money to cover any social events, outings and gifts. Visa, MasterCards, Apple Pay are all commonly used in Australia, however, the student should also bring cash in the local currency which is Australian dollars.
Language requirements
Fluent English. Additional languages can be useful depending on the community pharmacy in which the student is placed as certain pharmacies will have large communities speaking other languages like Arabic, Chinese, French etc.
Information on Work Permits and Visa
Unless you are an Australian or New Zealand citizen, you will need a valid Australian visa to enter the country. All other passport holders, regardless of age, must apply for a visa before leaving home. You can apply for a range of Australian visa types, including tourist visas and working holiday visas, at your nearest Australian Embassy or Consulate. Selection Procedures
