Subject:    Internship in Tobacco Free Initiative department  
Dear IPSF members,
If you have a special interest in public health and you would like to experience working at World Health Organization, we are pleased to announce you that WHO Tobacco Free Initiative (TFI) department is interested in offering IPSF internship possibilities. 
If you are interested, please submit the following information in order for your application to be processed:
A curriculum vitae (CV)
A one-page motivation letter. Please also include your desired length of internship, and availability dates to undergo the internship.
A maximum 1200 word essay on the role of the pharmacist in managing and reducing the global burden of disease and death caused by tobacco. All essays must be the original work of the applicant. IPSF reserves the right to publish the essays received (with acknowledgement of the author).
A reference letter
A letter of support from your university
The full application shall be submitted electronically to publichealth@ipsf.org  no later than 10 May 2011 (12:00 GMT).
When applying for internships, please note that WHO internships are not paid - no financial support is given to interns to cover accommodation or any other cost.

Subject: Internship Opportunity with European Centre of Disease Prevention and Control (Open to the Public)
Dearest IPSFers, 
The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has a traineeship programme. The programme gives trainees an understanding of the Centre and its role within the activities of the European Union, enables them to acquire practical knowledge in one of the ECDC’s Units and to obtain professional experience in the course of their work.
The traineeships are organised twice a year, each for a period of three to six months. Successful candidates will typically have a background relating to the activities of the ECDC, i.e. Clinical infectious diseases, Microbiology, Public health, Epidemiology, Statistics and/or modelling of infectious diseases, Social sciences, Medical informatics, Scientific and/or risk communication, Programme evaluation, Training in any of the above areas, Other expertise within the remit of ECDC. Qualified candidates with an interest in any support function (for example information technologies, legal affairs, internal audit, internal communication, personnel administration, budget, accounts, infrastructure services, document management, project management and meeting management) are welcomed too. Any candidate who meets the minimum eligibility criteria may apply.
Trainees are selected from nationals of the Member States of the European Economic Area (the Member States of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) and of candidate countries. A limited number of nationals of non-Member States may be accepted. Trainees are responsible for making sure that they obtain the correct visa, where applicable, to enter Sweden.
Minimum Requirements:
Possession of a university degree or equivalent at the time of applying;
A good command of English and one or more other official Community languages.
Training Grant:
The Centre pays a monthly grant of 1 207,83 EUR net per month (in 2009) and pays a travel allowance to compensate the expenses incurred at the beginning and at the end of the traineeship from the place of residence, which is normally the address provided for correspondence. It is recommended to read carefully the detailed rules applicable, available on the website.

Accommodation
The trainees are responsible for finding their own accommodation; unfortunately ECDC can not be involved in this aspect of their stay.

Here is a wonderful opportunity should you be interested in working with UNAIDS for an upcoming internship.
The Internship programme gives students based in one of UNAIDS’ locations the opportunity to undertake a work experience placement as part of their studies. UNAIDS recognizes the valuable contribution that interns make to UNAIDS programmes and to its work environment. The internship programme aims to provide a stimulating and fulfilling experience for interns, while enabling them to deepen their understanding of the goals, principles and activities of UNAIDS.
All requests for internships are dealt with by the Human Resources Division, which assists recruiting Departments of offices in selecting an intern based on a detailed Terms of Reference. Applications can be submitted at any time, exclusively through the online application. The required qualifications are outlined in the vacancy announcement below.
